Epic battle #1: Accountant vs Epidemiologist
Welcome to the first edition of Career Battles! Career exploration can be complex and expensive, but we're here to break it down in a fun and easy way.
Let’s Begin
Suited up in our arena this week, we have a smart and savvy Accountant taking on the brainy public health warrior Epidemiologist.
Two educated professionals who probably both aced statistics in undergrad but ended up with very different careers.
Who will win this epic battle?

Key Takeaways
Employability 😃
The data is clear. If either of these jobs calls to you, both are growing fields that offer financial independence and strong employability over the next decade.
Job Growth 😃
Don’t be fooled by that 26% growth rate in epidemiology, as there are a lot fewer jobs in that field in total. This means that even though Accounting is only growing by a modest (ahem) 6%, there will be a lot more accounting jobs opening up in the next decade than in epidemiology.
Global Impact 😒
If making a direct impact and saving the world calls to you, then epidemiology might make more sense as no one has ever hung a “Thank you Hero Accountants” banner over a highway overpass :)
Dinner Table Debate
What do you think of accounting versus epidemiology? Which one sounds more interesting to you?
Do you know anyone who works either as an accountant or epidemiologist?
Can you see yourself working in one of these fields? Why or why not?
